Home Made Detergent, Money Saver!

The recipe I used to make my detergent:

1: 4lb box of Borax
1: 4lb box of Arm & Hammer Washing Soda
2: Bars of Fels Naptha
2: Bars of SoaftSoap Pomegranate & Mango Soap ( this is the scent I chose you can use whatever sented soap you like!)
1: 4lb Box of Arm & Hammer Baking Soda
1: Box of a stain fighter or remover I chose Clorox stain fighter and color booster but you can use the oxy clean or any other box of stain fighter.

OPTIONAL: You can add a bottle or so of Purex Crystal Fabric Softener--to replace your softener too. Or if you still use fabric softener like i do and want something to add a good scent I added a bottle of the gain fireworks scent beads to mine. And then used the bottle to keep my detergent in.

ALL ITEMS ARE FOUND IN THE DETERGENT ISLE AT WALMART, EXCEPT THE BODY SOAP OF COURSE.

To make the detergent you will need a large container to mix and store it in, this makes 20 lbs of detergent.  You will also need a cheese grater... the simple hand held one with smaller holes works best.  You need to first mix all the boxes of product into the tub or container, then in a bowl grate all of the soap up (fels naptha and your scented bars).  mix it into the tub, and if you have chosen to added scent beads or crystals mix it together too. :)

To use it just stick in the the washer like you would any other detergent but you only need 2 tablespoons per load!  And its okay for high efficiency washers too. :)

** If you or your babies have allergies to perfumes and such just add a bar of fels naptha instead of 2 bars of scented soap, and leave out the scent booster beads.
